Indy + Taku (September 2nd 2022)

We started the morning at Goat Pond with a sunrise ceremony with their family watching on

Indy and Taku wanted a quiet and beautiful ceremony with their loved ones, many of whom had travelled from Japan to celebrate with us. We started our day at Goat Pond before stopping in at a few other locations in Canmore and then finished the night with a romp through some dramatic canyons before getting some starry-sky photos at night.

We went outside park boundaries so I could get some drone footage of Indy + Taku exploring a canyon.

Another drone photo to show the full landscape. The couple is so small, it’s like a game of “Where’s Waldo”

The day started out early, meeting just before sunrise. We walked 10 minutes to the ceremony location that I’d scouted out for these two. Check out the slides below to see the beginning of their ceremony:

As the morning light fully peeked over the mountaintops, it quickly warmed up. They said their vows quietly to each other in an intimate moment lake-side. After some celebrating, we hopped into family photos before we were due to head to our next location to explore.

After the ceremony, we headed out on our next few adventures. The first stop was a spot we picked out because Taku loved the dramatic look of huge exposed mountain faces. After that, we headed closer to Canmore to hike to a canyon.

The canyon was definitely a highlight, Indy and Taku happily climbed around through the canyon exploring. Also, HUGE props to Indy for navigating a hike with her ballgown! A truly impressive woman.

This low key, intimate, and adventurous but laidback day stretched from getting ready at Kananaskis Mountain Lodge all the way up to their ‘last dance’ as the sunset in my go-to hidden gem of a valley just outside of Canmore. The day was filled with giggles, brunch, butt-grabs (exclusively between the couple- as a rule of thumb I never partake in any butt-grabbin' business while on the clock as professionalism and common sense dictates), and also allowed time for Trish + Justin to take a power nap since it was such an early start to the day. Below are a few assorted moments from their day.

One of my favourite photos! We stopped for a few quick starry-sky photos as nighttime set in.

It was a beautiful day and night, spent exploring the mountains in a super laidback way. Congrats you two! To read more about their wedding, check out their wedding wire account where they go over all of the details:
